Nursing Summer Exploration for 7th-11th Graders

Explore, Learn and Discover at Cuyahoga Community College Health Careers and Nursing Summer Exploration

Each summer HCI offers a FREE two-week discovery experience at Cuyahoga Community College to help students explore their interest in pursuing a healthcare career. A wide range of career options are examined through career assessments, facility tours, field trips, hands-on activities, viewing of live medical procedures, discussions with real healthcare professionals and fun! This program is offered by Cuyahoga Community College along with the generous support of community partnerships; including, CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust. There is no cost to participate in the program. There is a limit of 40 students in each session, and applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. To be considered, students must have:

  • An interest in exploring healthcare careers
  • A minimum B average (as verified by a copy of one full year of transcripts/report cards)
  • Good attendance history
  • Good attitude/behavior records
  • A recommendation from their Principal or Guidance Counselor
  • Parental consent
  • Transportation to and from the program each day

2010 Program Dates and Times
Both programs will be held at Tri-C's Metro Campus
For students entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2010
June 21 - July 2, 2010
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Mon - Fri

For students entering grades 7-9 in the fall 2010
July 12 -23, 2010
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Mon - Fri

** Additional note: Acceptance into the program is not guaranteed. Those interested in participating in this program must submit an application online, a Teacher/Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form, report cards or transcripts for the last full academic year, and a Parental Consent Form in order to be considered.

Application Deadline is April 23, 2010. Hurry, seats fill quickly!
