Health Careers & Nursing Summer Exploration
Explore, Learn and Discover at Cuyahoga Community College Health Careers and Nursing Summer Exploration
Each summer, HCI offers, a two-week discovery experience at Cuyahoga Community College to help students explore their interest in pursuing a career in a healthcare environment. A wide range of career options are examined through career assessments, facility tours, field trips, hands-on activities, viewing of live medical procedures, discussions with real healthcare professionals and fun! Thanks to the generous support of a grant by the U.S. Department of Labor and a donation by CVS/pharmacies, there is no cost to students for this experience. There is a limit of 40 students in each session, and applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first serve basis. To be considered, students must have:
- An expressed interest in a career in healthcare
- A minimum grade point average of 2.5 or better (as verified by a copy of one full year of transcripts/report cards from Fall 06-Fall 07)
- Good attendance histories (no more that 6 absences per semester)
- Good attitude/behavior records (scores of 4's and 5's)
- A recommendation from their Principal or Guidance Counselor
